One-Line Bio

Quadrilingual web-genius

Biography

I was born just over half a century ago in Klagenfurt, southern Austria, a beautiful sleepy town worth a visit. I was brought up between two cultures - Austrian and British - and educated in both countries. I now live in Switzerland on the shores of Lake Geneva and have adopted Swiss nationality - I came to Switzerland 20 years ago for a few years and have not left. The Neguinha who appears occasionally with her comments and wisdom is Heliane, my wife, who is from Rio where we also have a home.

My first career was as a journalist in London (Press Association, Daily Telegraph, BBC World Service) and then in Switzerland for Swiss Radio International, which was a multilingual short-wave radio station, now defunct, replaced by the Internet.

I left the world of news in 1988 to work for private industry. Since 1992 I have worked full-time and exclusively on the web, which is about the time that Al Gore invented it.

I am also available for freelance writing or reporting gigs if anyone is offering.
